The chairman and CEO of Fox News was born May 15, 1940, in Warren, Ohio.
The television executive served as a media consultant for former Presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. He was also a media consultant for Rudy Giuliani's first mayoral campaign.
During his political consulting carer, Ailes produced Bush's "Revolving Door" ad, which is considered to be a factor in his defeat of Michael Dukakis in the 1988 election.
Ailes is credited with the "Orchestra Pit Theory" of political communications and news media coverage.
He is an alumnus of Ohio University.
In addition to Fox News, Ailes chairs Fox Business Network, MyNetwork TV and Twentieth Television.
